God's Greatest Gift

Melissa's Baby Picture

A precious gem from Heaven, Lord,
You sent to me this day.
It has to be the rarest
You have yet to give away.

This tiny child, born of love,
So warm and full of grace,
Has your love of beauty
Etched upon her face.

You took the blue from Paradise
And put it in her eyes,
Leaving less a brilliance there,
In the Heaven's skies.

You peered upon the Universe...,
Much sunlight you found there,
Then grasped it in Your Mighty Hand
And placed it in her hair.

The fairest rose in Heaven,
You then set out to seek,
You plucked it from Your garden
And placed it in her cheeks.

Yes, today you sent me heaven, Lord,
Less beauty must be there,
For you placed it here on earth for me
To nurture, love and care.

No earthly gift could quite compare,
Be it diamond, gold or pearl,
To the greatest gift the Lord could give,
A darling baby girl
